What Does Skylaki Mean? Little Dog, Big Love.

If you grew up in a Greek house as I did, you didn't have "a dog." You had a skylaki.

Every stray, every puppy on the street, every big 90-pound goofball that thinks it's a lap dog — they were all skylaki mou. My little dog.

Skylaki means "little dog" in Greek - ΣΚΥΛΑΚΙ - and that's our whole heart.

It's Not Just a Translation. It's a Feeling.

In Greek, we love diminutives. Add an "-aki" to the end of a word, and you make it smaller, cuter, and more loved.

Skylos = dog.
Skylaki = little dog. Your little dog. The one you'd do anything for.

It doesn't matter if he's 12 pounds or 120 pounds. Once he's yours, he's always your little dog. That's the feeling we wanted to bottle up.

Why We Built Skylaki This Way

We started Skylaki in West Haven, CT as a small, independent brand... not a big corporation. Every design is created in-house by our own team, not bought from a catalog.

That matters because dog people can spot fake from a mile away.

You know when a design was made by someone who actually has dog hair on their couch and a million photos of the same sleeping position on their phone. We make apparel for dog people, by dog people — whimsical, a little funny, a lot of heart.
